My Husband’s Best Friend Invited Himself Along On Our Romantic Cape Cod Getaway
Abbey and her husband planned a trip to Cape Cod for a little romantic getaway. When her husband told his best friend about it he offered to come down and hang out. Abbey doesn’t want him to tag along on what was supposed to be a romantic trip together, but her husband doesn’t get why she’s so upset about it
Check Out Abbey’s Call About Her Cape Cod Romantic Getaway
Jonathan: Danielle for panic button today, we have Abbey. Hey, Abbey. So you have a bit of a problem, I guess with boundaries and your husband’s friend. What’s going on?
Abbey: My husband and I, we have this trip planned for the weekend to Cape Cod. Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We’ve been planning this for a while. You know, we don’t go away very often. So we’ve been really looking forward to a romantic getaway. And we were out the other night with his friend and he invited himself to the trip. His friend did. His name is Glenn. And he invited himself on the trip.
Jonathan: OK.
Abbey: Thought I’d just come on down and meet you there and I was totally take aback and very ready to say no when my husband went ahead and said, Oh yeah, come on down. It’ll be so much fun.
Jonathan: Ohh well maybe he was just being nice. Like he didn’t know how to say no.
Danielle: Well, he didn’t know.
Abbey: I thought so too. But then he just kept going and kept saying how excited he was. And I started to be like this is our trip. And he was like, oh, we’ll just be a day, it’ll just be for one day we’ll just go fishing and you can have time to yourself.
Jonathan: Yeah. No. Yeah.
Abbey: And I I was just like this trip is for us. It’s not for me you. If it was for me, I would go take a trip by myself.
Danielle: Yeah.
Abbey: So I’m kind of having trouble figuring out how to tell him that I don’t want Glenn there at all.
Jonathan: Right. I mean, I guess you could just tell him that. But I think the bigger problem is this is supposed to be like you would plan this. The whole point of it was romantic, right? I would feel like the bigger problem is that why is he OK with Glenn even coming?
Abbey: How do I tell him? But also like, what the hell is wrong with you? That you don’t want to just spend time with me? I don’t know. I’m not very confrontational. So I’m a little bit worried about how it’s going to go down. Because, Glenn is one of his best friends there and friends are important.
Danielle: Absolutely.
Abbey: But yeah, it’s it just it really brought me a long way.
Jonathan: Yeah.
Danielle: Sure.
Abbey: He wants Glenn to come on this trip that we planned for ourselves and what do you want me to sleep on the couch?
Jonathan: Yeah. Like, sleep in the bed. Alright. That’s Abbey’s problem. Her husband and her were planning a vacation to Cape Cod. Or just a weekend getaway. But it was supposed to be romantic and she was looking forward to it for a while.
Abbey: I don’t know.
Jonathan: Her husband’s friend, Glenn invited himself along and her husband was like, Oh yeah, that’d be great. Yeah. Just for one day. I’ll spend the rest of the time with you, honey. But it’s also Saturday, too. It’s not like, if you’re going for a weekend, then it’s only half of a day. Friday, half a day Sunday driving there and driving back and then the full day will be with Glenn. That kind of ruins the whole thing. What should she say to her husband? How should she tell him? Should she just be blunt about it or should she? I don’t know. Find some passive aggressive way to punish him for allowing Glenn to invite himself along on this vacation. Abby, thank you so much.
Abbey: Thank you.
