Dustin Pedroia Officially Retires After 17 Years With The Red Sox
We knew it was coming, but it’s still tough to take. #15 is hanging up his jersey after a remarkable career in baseball. All of his professional years were spent with the Red Sox organization.
The 37 year old second baseman spent 17 years with the Sox after being selected in the second round of the 2004 draft. He is a 3 time World-Series Champ, helping the team grab the bling in 2007, 2013 and 2018.
Dustin Pedroia, who was named by the American League as Rookie of the Year in 2001, is officially announced his retirement. “Pedey” earned the Most Valuable Player award in 2008, four All-Star selections, four Gold Glove Awards for second base and a 2008 Silver Slugger Award. Pedroia is also the only second baseman ever to be name Red Sox MVP by the Boston Baseball Writers.
Following the retirement announcement, came a flood of posts of appreciation.
Dustin and his family, wife Kelli, and three sons, Dylan, Cole, and Brooks will now enjoy some watching baseball together, in Arizona.
