Catch Of The Week: Daniel Miller
Meet Daniel Miller, a North Reading singer/songwriter
It’s been said, that it’s “all about the song.” While true, if you don’t have a good storyteller to relay the song, it’s lost in translation. Daniel Miller is a gifted storyteller. His message is clear. The way he delivers his lyrics is so picturesque you feel like you are listening to an artist paint a story on palette. And being able to understand each word expressed undoubtedly makes the tale more palatable.
Growing up in Tennessee, Daniel began singing and performing somewhat regularly in front of others around eight years old. His parents introduced him to music and he says,”I was lucky to be exposed to a wide variety of music as a child and to attend some incredible live performances. That directly impacted my desire to pursue music.”
Miller came to Boston for college and never left. Although, clearly, Tennessee is in his soul. His current album features Grammy Award winning musicians, like Jerry Douglas and Robby Turner (Chris Stapleton). Over the years, and the states, Miller has had the opportunity to open for some pretty impressive headliners, from Lady Antebellum to The Mavericks and Jamey Johnson.

- Instruments played: Guitar, some piano
- How would you describe your sound: American Roots music with heavy influences from traditional country. Some folks refer to us as Americana or Country Rock
- Who inspires you: Most people I meet. Inspiration can be found anywhere and everyone has a unique story to tell
- Band Name: Daniel Miller & The High Life
- All- time favorite country song: (or songs if you can’t name just one): ‘Dreaming My Dreams with You’ – Waylon Jennings,‘Ramblin Fever’ – Merle Haggard ‘Settin the Woods on Fire’ – Hank Williams ‘Jolene’ – Dolly Parton ‘If You Were to Wake Up’ – Lyle Lovett
- Favorite country concert: That’s tough. Getting to sing with John Denver during one of his shows was a favorite. My first time seeing Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Jamey Johnson perform also stick out. Witnessing Porter Wagoner perform on The Grand Ole Opry was another big concert experience.
- What songs do you like now on Country 102.5: I enjoy hearing anything Chris Stapleton or Miranda Lambert
- If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing: I’d be working in education, which is what I do
- Day Job: I’m what’s referred to as a Team Chairperson, I run special education meetings for a school district
- Most proud moment: Getting to perform with my band during the Bristol Rhythm ‘n Roots Festival this past fall was a big one
- Other things you like to do: When I’m not working or performing I’m at home with my family, enjoying all the craziness that comes along with raising three kids together with my wife
- Fun facts: I’m a long time collector of historic and music memorabilia, I am a proud native Tennessean – I can talk all day about how Knoxville, TN is the greatest place on Earth and I love road trips! I will happily drive more than 15 hours straight to wherever the destination might be
