Chris Young On 2020 Live ACM Awards: ‘I Hope They Happen’
Despite the COVID-19 cases rising in the country and in Nashville, the Academy of Country Music is going ahead with plans to have the ACM Awards in Nashville at various venues including Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry house on September 16, 2020.
When asked about whether or not he thinks the show will happen with a live audience, Chris Young told us, “It’s so tough to even make a call on that only because, you know, in Nashville specifically, as far as what phase they have us in and of what people can do and what capacity is and what the numbers will do between here and now. I don’t think anyone can really count on that. So, I don’t know.”
Chris did add that he is hopeful it will happen not only for the awards but the support the artists in country music have for one another. He told us, “I hope that they happen only because that’s such a big moment of unity for country music and that seems backwards because you’re inherently talking about something where everyone’s trying to win against one another, but it really is that is the time that we all kind of come together and see each other and root for people.”
