Ryan Reynolds, Octavia Spencer, and Will Ferrell to Film Christmas Movie in Braintree
Another Hollywood production is coming to Massachusetts… and this time, it’s a holiday movie!
Filming for “Spirited,” a musical remake of the Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol,” is set to happen this July in Braintree. The movie is coming to Apple TV+, starring Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, and Octavia Spencer.
Braintree Mayor, Charles Kokoros, told the Patriot Ledger that film crews will be shooting in the Nordstrom wing of the South Shore Plaza in early July. The area will be decorated for Christmas for the movie.
According to Patch.com, Boston Casting, a local agency, is running casting for the production. They stated that the agency is looking for people between ages 20 and 60 “who are comfortable moving, shaking and shimmying” as extras in the film. The casting notice said that filming is expected to run from July 6 through Oct. 18.
