Salem Haunted Happenings Returning October 2021
Good news… Salem Haunted Happenings, Salem, Massachusetts’ annual celebration, is officially returning this October!
After being cancelled last year due to the pandemic, Salem Haunted Happenings is returning this year in a big way. Visitors can expect street fairs, performances, expanded programming, special events, and seasonal flair with a return to pre-pandemic capacity. These month long special events feature everything from reverent commemorations of the Salem Witch Trials history, to compelling museum exhibits, to outrageous costume balls, and historic walking tours to foliage harbor tours. Special seasonal programming will take place at Salem’s year-round museums, attractions, tours, shops, and dining.
“We are excited to welcome the return of special events and programs to Salem’s calendar of events this October,” announced Kate Fox, executive director of Destination Salem, “Salem Haunted Happenings generates approximately 30% of the City’s annual tourism revenue, which is critical to the survival of our small business community during the off-season. Being the destination of choice and often a ‘bucket list’ destination for visitors from around the world is a special designation for Salem.”
The city is currently in the process of planning all of the special events that will take place this October, including The Salem Haunted Happenings Grand Parade and Haunted Biz Baz Street Fair, which are both expected to return. In addition, The Merchant Marketplace and free family film nights are coming back. The annual Festival of the Dead will also return with its month-long Psychic Fair, the Dumb Supper, and Witches’ Ball finale, as well as The Howl-o-Ween pet parade, hosted by Salem Main Streets.
In addition to bringing back events from years past, there are several new events for 2021 that are currently in the works: an exhibit focusing on the Salem Witch Trials at the Peabody Essex Museum, the Endless Night Vampire Weekend at the Hawthorne Hotel, and a changing exhibit at the Salem Arts Association.
Be sure to check out the events calendar, as things are continuously being added, and don’t forget to download the Destination Salem app for all the latest updates from Salem!
