Jason Aldean Sells His Music Catalog For Big Bucks
Jason Aldean has sold his music catalog to Spirit Music Group for an estimated 100 million dollars. In the deal, Sprint Music acquired 90 percent of Jason’s catalog of recorded music, spanning from his 2005 debut album to 2019’s 9 album.
Aldean said in a press release, “It’s cool that a company like Spirit, that’s been around so long, has taken on my music catalog. It’s something really important to me, so I’m glad it’ll be looked after.”
The deal is solely for Aldean’s portion of the catalog, and his longtime labels BBR Music Group and BMG retain their portion of catalog rights.
Spirit CEO Frank Rogers said of Jason, “His recordings have helped define the sound of modern country music. Spirit Music Group is excited to partner with Jason and we look forward to further championing these important recordings to the world.”
The nine-album catalog includes 24 No. 1 hits, among them “Dirt Road Anthem,” “Got What I Got” and “You Make It Easy.”
In January, Kenny Chesney sold a majority of his royalties to British investment company Hipgnosis Song Management; a number of other major artists, including Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Nicks and John Legend have sold their music catalogs.
