Dierks Bentley’s ‘Something Real’ Is ‘Something A Little Deeper’
Dierks Bentley’s newly released song “Something Real” from his tenth studio album Gravel & Gold reflects his thoughts on returning to nature. The song was written on a Colorado writing retreat with Ross Copperman, Michael Hardy, Ashley Gorley, and Luke Dick.
Dierks says of the new song’s inspiration, “I think we are all seeking something a little deeper than what’s on the surface, the things we see on social media. For me, that looks like putting my phone down, getting out in nature with my family, writing songs with my friends… doing the things where I find real connection.”
He added, “There is always a little hesitation about putting a new song in the set, but it’s sounding so good live, and I appreciate the fans who already know it and are singing it back to us.”
Bentley is currently on his “Gravel & Gold Tour” with Jordan Davis as direct support. He also has a diverse group of special guests joining throughout the 28-city trek, including Elle King, and Hailey Whitters.

Bentley said, “Hockey plays a big part of my daily life. I’ve been to rinks all over the country with my travel hockey son. I coach his spring league games and spend hours in the local hockey store, telling him, ‘No, you do not need a new stick!’ We love watching YouTube highlight reels. The whole family loves going to Nashville Predators games and watching the Stanley Cup Final together.”
He added, “And I am a proud member of a beer league team here in Nashville. To get to add NHL Awards host to this list is truly an honor.”
The 2023 NHL Awards will open a week of NHL activities in Nashville. In conjunction with the City of Nashville and the Nashville Predators, the NHL will stage the 2023 Upper Deck NHL Draft at Bridgestone Arena on June 28-29.
