Swifties Think Taylor Swift’s Earlier Songs Refer To Travis Kelce
Taylor Swift’s fans have a knack for finding an Easter egg in everything. Ever since Swift got together with Kansas City Chiefs’ star Travis Kelce, Swifties have tried to learn all they can about the NFL player. Fans have discovered a series of coincidences that link the pop star and Super Bowl winner years before they even met.
Taylor and Travis’ Invisible String
From the two stars using the exact same gestures, to references in Swift’s song lyrics from a long time ago, Swifties have compiled a list of clues that hint the pair may have been destined to be together from the start. One Swiftie TikTok fan page pointed out that during Taylor’s performance of “The Archer” throughout her Eras Tour, she uses her arms to gesture she’s shooting off a bow and arrow. Travis makes a similar move for his touchdown celebration. Swifties have also gone wild over the fact that Travis shares a birthday with Taylor’s late grandmother, Marjorie Finlay, who has inspired numerous Swift songs.
Another fan on TikTok noticed one of Taylor’s dancers, Kam Saunders, is brother to a former teammate of Kelce. Khalen Saunders used to be on Travis’ team, and the two played side by side for years before he signed with the New Orleans Saints. Earlier this week, one fan’s tweet went viral when they asked: “WHY NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT HOW TAYLOR’S DANCER KAM SAUNDERS IS BROTHER TO KHALEN SAUNDERS THAT PLAYS WITH TRAVIS KELCE.” With over five million views, fans theorized this was how Swift got Travis’ number. One fan quoted Swift’s lyrics to “Invisible String” in the comments section: “Isn’t it just so pretty to think, all along there was some invisible string tying you to me.” Another fan speculates, “Travis made the friendship bracelet, passed it onto Khalen who passes it onto Kam who passed it to…”

Other fans believe that Swift’s song lyrics foreshadowed her romance with Kelce. From her 2019 Lover album, the track “Cornelia Street” includes the lyrics: “As if the streetlights pointed in an arrowhead, leading us home.” The KC Chiefs always play at Arrowhead Stadium. Then, from her debut 2006 self-titled album, “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My),” Swift mentions the numbers 87 and 89 — Travis’ jersey number is 87. 89 refers to the year Swift was born, as well as her album 1989. In another music reference, this time with her music video for 2008’s “You Belong With Me,” Taylor is seen cheering on a footballer who she has a crush on. The athlete is played by Lucas Till, who went on to portray a character named Travis in the Hannah Montana movie.
