Women In Country Music: Priscilla Block
Priscilla block is an American country singer and songwriter. She grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina, and learned to play guitar at a very young age. She was one of five siblings, and she is very close with her family. With a dream of being a singer, Priscilla later moved to Nashville.
After she moved to Nashville, she would go to live music spots and listen to country artists play all night long. She did this for quite some time, eventually playing some gigs herself.
She released her first EP titled, Different Route, in 2016. After this, she began writing songs about self-love and being kind to our bodies. She wrote songs called “Thick Thighs” and “PMS” which blew up on Tik-Tok during the pandemic.
She posted an original song on Tik-Tok “Just About Over You,” after running into her ex-boyfriend, and it went viral. This song was heard by label executives, and she was signed to Mercury Nashville, where they released it as a single. They also put out a music video that ended up number 81 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a top 20 single on the Billboard country charts. She later released a self-titled EP in 2021, that included her first big song “Just About Over you,” along with five other cowrites.
Priscilla released her first album, Welcome To The Block Party, in February of 2021. She describes the album in an interview with American Songwriter as “Sassy, trashy, and sad.” This album has 12 songs including the hit song “Just About Over You,” and another song that went viral on Tik-Tok, “Thick Thighs.”
Priscilla Block is just getting started. She recently was a red-carpet host at the 2022 ACM Awards, and she nailed it. She looked stunning, and her bubbly personality shined as she interviewed fellow country artists. We look forward to watching her journey to stardom!
