This Cool Space Event Will Be Most Visible This Weekend
We’ve had some pretty cool space-y things happen in the last few years. Most memorable of course would be the eclipse that took place a few years back. But this weekend, get ready for something really cool up in the sky.
The Perseids Meteor Shower is the official name of the most common meteor shower. So if you’ve ever been lucky enough to see this cool space event, it was probably the Perseids.
This shower is considered to be the best one, and it typically runs from July to September. But this weekend, August 12-13, it will ‘peak.’ This means the shower will be the most visible and will have the most activity.
During this peak time, there is potential for you to see up to 100 meteors per hour, according to NASA.
So, where can you go to have the best chance of seeing something amazing this weekend? Well, the people much smarter than me at NASA recommend that you look for the shower during the “pre-dawn hours.” However, if you like to sleep, they say that the meteor shower can also be seen pretty vibrantly as early as 10pm.
And to make it even more exciting, we are expecting some GREAT weather this weekend in Boston… finally a cool-down!
So whatever your weekend plans are, make some time to check out the Perseids Meteor Shower!
