Dolly Parton Posts Message To Elvis, Priscilla, and Lisa Marie Presley
Dolly Parton shared her sorrow over the sudden death of Elvis’ only child Lisa Marie Presley yesterday (1/12). Presley, 54, died after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Dolly posted to Instagram: “Priscilla, I know how sad you must be. May God comfort you at this time. Elvis, I know how happy you must be to finally have her home and to have her back with you. Lisa Marie, may you rest in peace. We all love all of you. Dolly.”
Fans responded to Dolly’s heartfelt post immediately, with one fan writing, “Beautiful words, Dolly.” Most fans agreed, with one commenting, “This. Beautifully said.” One more fan noted, “Amen, Dolly.”
Lisa Marie’s death was confirmed in a statement from Priscilla to the media yesterday afternoon. Priscilla said, “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong, and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time, there will be no further comment.”
On Tuesday (1/10), Lisa Marie and Priscilla were at the Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills. She and her mother were both in attendance and saw Austin Butler win a Globe for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in the film Elvis.
Lisa Marie was also joined by Butler and Elvis filmmaker Baz Luhrmann in L.A. on Sunday (1/8) when they attended a birthday bash for the King himself. Baz and Austin flanked Lisa as they arrived at the Formosa Café in West Hollywood, one of Elvis’ favorite haunts when he was alive. Lisa’s daughter, Riley Keough, also stepped out for the party.
Lisa Marie followed in her famous father’s footsteps and released three albums: 2003’s To Whom It May Concern, 2005’s Now What and 2012’s Storm & Grace.
