Morgan Wallen’s Sister Sings On His New Album
Morgan Wallen was in Los Angeles during Grammy week and previewed his upcoming 36-track album. He revealed that his 2-year-old son spent time in the studio with him and his sister, Ashlyne, sings harmony on the new project.
According to Billboard, Ashlyne, who is 15 months younger than Wallen, sings harmony on “Outlook.” Morgan said, “We’ve always been super, super tight. We grew up in church singing hymns and stuff and learning how to harmonize with each other and sing three-part harmony.” Wallen added that the song, which is one is one of the first he ever wrote, addresses faith. He said, “It seemed appropriate from everything that we grew up learning and everything that we lived through together.” Morgan says he also wanted his youngest sister, Mikaela, on the record, but she had just given birth, so the timing didn’t work out.
Wallen also revealed that his toddler son, Indie, was a frequent studio visitor. He laughed, “He started coming in there and banging on guitar strings and, you know, delete songs for Joey and stuff like that. But honestly, he brought a lot of joy into the room. He brought a new energy that we hadn’t had in there before. By the end of the recording, Indie was frequently in [producer Joey] Moi’s lap at the console, turning knobs.”
Morgan said that he and his producer Moi spent four months in the studio and that “the songs just kind of naturally came in.” Moi added of the 36-track album, “It seemed like the more we cut, the more songs would show up. So it just kept piling up.”
Last month, Morgan announced the new album called One Thing At A Time would be out on March 3, 2023.
