Luke Combs: Fatherhood Makes Him Feel Like ‘A Kid Again’
In a recent interview, Luke Combs talked about being a new dad and how it took some time to bond with his son Tex. Luke said, “Getting through those first couple of months are difficult for dads, way more difficult for mom… you feel helpless; how can I help? How can I do anything? As your child starts to smile, laugh, and recognize you when you come in the room, it’s like, it just all unveils itself.”
Combs says, “A whole new level of love that is unlocked with a child. It’s different from the love you have for your wife. It’s a different kind of love. As a dad, you don’t have that instant bond with a child like the mother does. That is a chemical thing that happens.”
Even seven months into being a dad, it still amazes him. “I think the thing that blew me away the most was how much of a serotonin dump there is from just looking at a picture of him on my phone or getting a picture from my wife or a little video of my wife when I am out here. It just makes my whole day; it can make you feel instantly amazing just seeing them in their little chair, bouncing around, or whatever they are doing. It’s amazing, something so simple. It almost feels like, in a way, that I am a kid again.”

Last month, Luke gave more details about his upcoming album . He posted an image of the album cover, which looks a lot like his Grown’ Up album but with a drawing of a home instead of a bar on Instagram.
He wrote, “This album is about the stage of life I’m in right now. One that I’m sure a lot of us are in have been through or will go through. It’s about coming of age, loving where life is now but at the same time missing how it used to be, continuing to fall for the one you love and loving them no matter what, living in the moment but still wondering how much time you have left, family, friends, being thankful, and leaving a legacy. Me and so many others have poured their hearts and souls into this record, and I hope you love it as much as we do.” He added, “It’ll be out March 24, but the new song ‘Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old’ out tomorrow.”
