Kane Brown’s Music Career Started While He Mixed Paint
Kane Brown talked about how he went from Lowe’s employee to country music superstar in a new interview on NBC News’s Sunday Today with Willie Geist, which will air on Sunday (9/17).
Kane said he was working at Lowe’s, mixing paint and doing a lot of singing: “I was singing. My buddy ended up hearing me and telling me to try out for the talent show.”
He said that when he tried out for the talent show, he got an encore. It was the encore that “sparked” his desire to sing. He said, “That’s what sparked everything.”
Brown posted a tease of a new song on his Instagram recently where he sits in a vintage white car, and the music plays. The lyrics include, “I can feel it in the air, feel it in the whiskey in my hand.” He captioned the clip, “New song (fire emoji) new tour.”

Brown made his acting debut on the CBS drama Fire Country in May. Kane talked to us in Nashville not long ago before he celebrated his recent chart-topper “Like I Love Country Music” and told us about his acting dreams.
Brown said of his first acting gig, “I loved Robin (his character) as my first role; I felt like it was really me, so it wasn’t too hard to try to act. I got a lot of good advice from the actors that were on the scene. I kept asking them how they go about doing their characters, and they said, ‘Just make it yourself,’ and I thought that was really cool. They made me feel like family.”
While he admitted that he wouldn’t be auditioning for too many roles, he shared his movie plans and what parts he would love to do. Kane offered, “I would love to be in movies, but we’re not gonna push anything; we’re just gonna go, and whatever offers we get, we’re gonna look at ’em and see if we want ’em.”
And his dream roles? He said. “Every Avenger that you could possibly think of, yeah, that would be sick. I love scary movies and comedies. I think it would be cool to do a comedy. It’d be cool.”
