Let’s all hyperventilate over Tom Brady’s cryptic tweet
By Ty Anderson, 985TheSportsHub.com
We’ve apparently hit the ‘Cryptic Tweet’ season of Tom Brady Watch, as the New England quarterback and future unrestricted free agent decided to set Twitter ablaze with a single photo (and zero commentary) on Thursday night.

Oh, cool, now my heart is beating fast.
First of all, that’s Gillette Stadium. If you zoom in just right, you can see the 98.5 The Sports Hub broadcast booth. And while I have you looking there, make sure you listen to Bob Socci’s podcast with a nice cup of Bigelow Tea (tea proudly).
Now which direction Brady is walking seems to be the debate for many. Some would argue that he’s walking away from the field, while others (like myself) would say he’s walking towards the field if you look at the outline of what appears to be his ears. There also appears to be something in his left hand, and Brady always walks into the stadium with a duffel bag in his left hand, so there’s another sign that this photo is of Brady walking towards the Gillette turf. (I feel like an insane person.)
But what does it all mean?
It feels worth mentioning that this post from Brady comes in the midst of what’s been an absolute whirlwind day (and week) of reporting regarding the 42-year-old’s future with the Patriots. Set to become a true free agent in March, there’s been reports that Brady has purchased or has been looking to purchase a property in the Las Vegas area. Brady, of course, seemed chummy with Raiders owner Mark Davis at a UFC event they both attended earlier this month, and the Raiders could be looking for a massive splash as they officially move from Oakland to Las Vegas this season. Brady is exactly that. (People have also been quick to point out that this photo is in black and white, or silver and black, if you’re aiming for a Raiders slant here).
Thursday also featured a report that suggested that the Brady family was in Nashville and looking at potential schools for their son. The Titans, of course, could be in the market for a quarterback should they choose not to believe in the half-season run by Ryan Tannehill. Brady and Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, of course, are former teammates and remain friends. But that report was shot down by a Nashville news station, and by the school itself, which denied rumors of Brady being on campus.
So with these rumors swirling, perhaps this is Brady letting everybody know that he’s still walking towards his home turf in Foxborough, and that nothing has changed on that front regardless of his contract status.
But given the darker nature of this photo (black and white, rainy), some have suggested that this is the beginning of Brady’s goodbye, either from the Patriots or from football as a whole. I must admit that this seems unlikely to be the case, especially if he is indeed walking towards the field, as our (mindless) detective work is leading us to believe.
Or, it could be just nothing and Brady is having a good laugh at making all of us have chest pains for no good reason.
Either way, let me be clear and say that I absolutely hate it.
