Women In Country Music- Hillary Scott
Hillary Scott who was born and raised in Nashville, TN is well known as one-third of multi-Platinum, seven-time Grammy winning country trio Lady A. Following in the musical footsteps of both her parents, Hillary began to pursue her career in music trying to secure a record deal after finishing high school. Talk about big dreams!
In 2006, she met her bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood. They began a writing partnership which led to the formation of the trio and secured a record deal. Lady A has risen to fame with their musical mix of country, rock, and R&B. Favorites include “Need You Now” and “Bartender.”
The seven-time CMA Award winners were surprised with an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry during the “Grand Ole Opry: 95 Years of Country Music.” What a huge honor and accomplishment for Lady A!
After more than a decade in the spotlight, they’ve ridden waves and weathered the storms of all things music, embracing everything life has to offer. “As artists, it’s partly our job to sing, or to say, the things that everybody thinks and maybe doesn’t say out loud,” says Scott. “I think there’s a lot of vulnerability in that.” We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this group!
Recently, Hillary has teamed up with this year’s Dress For Success Your Hour, Her Power campaign. Dress For Success is a global nonprofit that provides employment resources for women. This campaign encourages individuals to donate an hour of their pay to help women obtain those resources. She posted on her socials, “As a mom of three daughters and a business leader in the music industry, I am honored to be a part of Dress For Success this Women’s History Month.” To find more info and how to donate, click HERE.
