$5,000 Found Under Floor Mat in SUV
Finders keepers losers weepers, right?
Landon Melvin, a 9-year-old from Indiana, was cleaning out his family’s SUV when he made a shocking discovery. Under the floor mat contained $5,000 cash in an envelope. When Landon ran in to tell his father, his father didn’t believe him.
According to upi.com Michael Melvin stated,
“I was like, ‘Whatever.’ He’s 9,” Michael Melvin said. “I’m like ‘you found something, OK.’ Landon says, ‘No, Dad I really did.’ I walk over. I see it. I reach down. I say, you know, ‘What is this?’ And, I’m thinking it’s probably paperwork of some sort.”
It was paper all right. The money however belonged to a family in South Carolina who had previously owned the SUV before the Melvin family.
For his good deed and contacting the original owners, the family insisted Landon kept $1,000 as a finder’s fee.
