Meet Sofia Lee Davis from Hampton, NH!
On Sofia Lee Davis’ Instagram account (@SassySofia), her profile says, “Singing & writing my heart out. Little bit Yankee, little bit Y’all.” That really says it all about this sassy singer with some Southern influences. Well, it’s a start, anyway. Honestly, when Davis sings, there is elation. She is in the right place, doing the right thing. And her thing, is uniquely Sofia. The quality in her voice is reminiscent of Alison Krauss, or Dolly Parton, maybe even Tenille Townes, but there is no sound like hers. She has a voice suited for traditional country music, yet she spins it with a fresh, contemporary quality. Her voice is as comfortable being playful, as it is touching serious subjects.
It all started in the kitchen, cooking up a love of music. Sofia recalls she would be dancing and swirling to the sounds of Motown while helping her mother scrub the floor. She believes this helped lead her to a life of music. She was only 9 years old when she constructed her first original song. She just had to express herself, and hasn’t stopped since. Sofia Lee Davis has much to say, and the skills to say it.

Originally from: Hampton, NH
Now lives in: Lake Oconee, GA
Been playing since: I could talk. I have super early memories of how songs made me feel, the emotions and the rush and wanting to sing about my own life and experiences. The first song I wrote was when I was 9, it was called “Let It Go”
What instruments do you play: I did Suzuki violin and piano when I was young, and i’m still trying to learn guitar! You are never too old to learn!
How would you describe your sound: My sound is a whole jumble of a whole lot. My mother raised me listening to gospel and Elvis. My father loved classical and underground R&B. My sound definitely has modern pop influences, seasoned with Americana
Who inspires you: My son inspires me. He is resilient and he’s loving and forgiving. He makes me want to be better, do better, and try harder
What have you been working on: 2019 was a great year for me. I was nominated for a Georgia Country Music Award for Best Female Country Artist. Additionally, the Josie Music Awards and New England Music Awards nominated me for Best Country Act and Song Of the Year. Currently, my newest single, “Diamonds,” is number 2 (on the local chart) at a station in Atlanta
Your all- time favorite country songs: “Hands” by Nickel Creek, and “Kentucky Rain” by Elvis. Additionally, anything by Alison Krauss
Current favorite or favorites playing on Country 102.5: I love that you play Tenille Townes, But my favorite would have to be Carly Pearce and Lee Brice, “I Hope Your Happy Now”
Most proud moment: Hearing my son singing from the audience during a sold out show, and having the audience join in
Crazy thing that happened in your career: The greatest thing that happened is messaging the group Honey Country and asking if I could open for them. They wrote back and said yes! I loved meeting these amazing women. They write their songs. Dani Rose, Devon Jane and Katie Stump are triple threats.
First Country Concert: My mother took me to Sugarland at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH. One of the ushers saw how enamored I was and brought me right to the stage as Jennifer Nettles sang “Stay.” I will never forget that moment
Other interests: I love to fish off my pontoon on the weekends, and go on road trips. My next goal is visiting Montana
Frivolous Fun Facts: I’v broken the same leg twice. I’m type 1 diabetic. I want to sing in every state
Mantra: I don’t believe you only have to do one thing. I’m doing everything I want to, while pursuing music
