Most high school principals send off the graduating class on commencement day with words of wisdom, acknowledgment of achievements and advice, but in High Point, NC, that wasn’t the case. And it was music to the students ears.

Principal Marcus Gause surprised the class of T. Wingate Andrews High School with this moving performance of  Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.”

If you don’t get chills, or you eyes don’t well up even a little, check your pulse because this is moving…

If the choice of song seems odd to you, think about these lyrics, and how meaningful they are:

“I hope life treats you kind
And I hope you have all you’ve dreamed of
And I wish you joy and happiness
But above all this I wish you love”

Principal Clause isn’t the first to sing this Dolly Parton classic for graduates. You may remember  back in 2017, when special guest commencement speaker at USC comedian Will Farrell addressed the class, he sang a piece of the song, too. Not quite the same feeling here, but…

Will Ferrell Sings Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ ...

BEST COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS EVER? Actor Will Ferrell receives an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Southern California, and sings Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" to fellow graduates.
