Costco’s Return Policy Is So Good That A Woman Returned A Couch After Using It For 2 Years!
Like a Good Deal?
If you’re someone who likes a good deal you may have stayed up until the wee hours of the morning on Thanksgiving. You may have rushed the doors at dawn with fellow shoppers, ready to stomp them into the linoleum to get a TV for 30% off. You may still have a subscription to a newspaper just so you can get the Sunday ads and coupons that are, I’m fairly sure, the only reason newspapers exist. But did you ever consider instead just taking advantage of Costco’s return policy?
Can You Really Return A Couch To Costco After 2 Years?
That’s what this woman did. Her name is Jackie and she claims she bought a couch from Costco two years ago. After years of use she decided she didn’t want it anymore and after scouring their return policy she had a genius of an idea. What if I just return it?
Remember, this is despite using it for two years. God only knows how many farts, food spills or diapers were changed on the thing. I mean who KNOWS what happened on that couch.
Who cares! According to Costco’s policy they will take anything that isn’t a restriction on returning furniture. It’s true, they only have restrictions on returning electronics, jewelry, alcohol, tires, and batteries.
Here’s What Jackie Did
Jackie says she was nervous and “intimidated” but sure enough the friendly person on the other end said “No problem.” Jackie then told them that she didn’t have a receipt. “No problem” said the person on the other end. All they needed was her membership card and credit card.
At the end of the day Jackie returned her couch and got her $900 back.
Are You Ok With This?
Some people, like my cohost Ayla, think this is fine. It’s Costco’s fault for having this return policy. Plus they probably “write it off.” (Which is the mantra of people who like to dabble in unethical behavior while maintaining their innocence). I mean who even knows what writing something off is? I’m fairly sure it just means they raise the prices on everything else besides the rotisserie chicken.
It also wastes employees time, makes the line longer for everyone else and will make the returns system harder for everyone else. But who cares! In 2024 all that matters is getting yours and screw everyone else.
Below you can find Ayla’s list of stores with AWESOME return policies.
