Photos: The Ugliest Dogs In The World Are Proud Of Their Looks
Can you believe that there’s a competition to find the world’s ugliest dogs?
“Scooter” was awarded 1st place at the annual World’s Ugliest Dog Contest. He is a 7-year-old Chinese Crested dog with deformed hind legs that hinder his ability to walk. Scooter also has a tongue that permanently hangs out of his mouth. He has a wiry hair on his face, but bald everywhere else on his body. You might think he is ugly, but his owner, Linda Elmquist, thinks he’s beautiful just the way he is!
Scooter was once facing euthanasia. But instead of being put down, he was brought to a volunteer at Saving Animals from Euthanasia (SAFE) He was put into Linda’s home in Arizona.
Linda knew she has a special dog, which is why she brought him to the World’s Ugliest Dog contest in Petaluma, California. On June 23, 2023 he was awarded first place and won $1000.
