Boston Has Spoken And This Is Their Favorite Hot Dog Brand
There is a clear cut wiener (winner)
Boston has spoken and this is our favorite hot dog brand. But first, Folks who grew up in the Boston area are fans of hot dogs, in fact there is a traditional dinner that we all know and it’s called “Beans and Franks’. Many of us had this for dinner at least once a week. For me growing up in Maine it was our Saturday night supper. Hot dogs and B and M Baked Beans. Sometimes we would have the hot dogs served in New England style buns or we would have the hot dogs without the buns and served with Brown Bread.
What is Brown Bread?
For those unfamiliar with brown bread you might be surprised that it comes in a can. Yup, bread in a can! You would take the cylinder of brown bread out of the can and heat and serve sliced with butter. New England Brown Bread is delicious! It has undertones of molasses and the optional raisins, made with rye flour and vanilla extract, it is so good and you should try it.
Back to the hot dog
Hot dogs are a beloved Boston and New England tradition, whether you like yours boiled, broiled, grilled or microwaved, we eat a lot of them. There are a number of local hot dog restaurants that serve only hot dogs and other places that are famous for their hot dog menus.
We like our hot dog toppings too
When we asked how they like their hot dogs cooked, the overwhelming most used answer was Grilled. We love to cook our dogs on the grill especially in the summer with our backyard barbecues. If not on the grill, the second favorite cooking style is on the flat top grill and third is broiled followed by boiled.
We love our New England Style Buns
If you grew up in our area than you know what a New England roll is. They’re split in the middle and just long enough to fit a 5 to 6 inch hot dog in. New Englanders we these rolls on all types of food, like tuna and lobster rolls, but it’s usually the first choice in buns for us Bostonians.
And the Wiener is?
There are lots of hot dog makers in New England but there a clear cut winner…. Kayem Hot Dogs!
Yup! Kayem from Chelsea, Massachusetts has been around for over 110 years and still going strong. New Englanders love their Kayem hot dogs either with natural casing or without, they are the Official Hot Dog of Fenway Park, and that is quite an achievement. They employ over 500 people and produce thousands of hot dogs, sausages, bacon, deli and even buns every day.
